Queen No Longer Supports Prince Andrew's Return To Royal Duties, What Does It Mean For His Royal Title?
Reports have revealed that Prince Andrew is planning on returning to his royal duties later this year. The Duke of York, 60, stepped down from his royal responsibilities almost a year ago after it was revealed that he was involved with the late pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein and his child-trafficking ring.
Royal insiders claim that Prince Andrew is very well aware of his unpopularity amongst the British public but is striving to find ways to serve the crown once again.
The disgraced Prince is said to be working out on supporting the monarchy and locking himself up in the Royal Lodge, brainstorming with his royal advisors.
If the reports are true, the Duke of York will have to seek approval from several senior royals, including his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, Royal advisors and the Government.
Prince Andrew’s disastrous Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis last November addressing the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and denying his sexual involvement with an underage woman was a PR disaster.
Not more than a week after the interview, the Prince removed himself from the public eye.
There is no assurance that the Prince’s return will be supported and approved by the royal palace. Metro UK reports that Queen Elizabeth is not keen on letting Prince Andrew take on public roles as a working royal but supports him on his other ventures.
The Queen reportedly fears that any link of Prince Andrew to the royal duties will only have a negative effect on the firm.
“There are family discussions about it. But while the hurdles around the Epstein case are still hanging over him, it will be difficult for him to represent the family,” a senior royal aide reveals.
The Duke is claimed to have a very positive outlook that he will return as a working royal and is confident that the Queen and his siblings will fully support this.
But with the current political air and the pandemic, the royal palace can only take on so much negative light from the public.
According to an insider who told Express UK, the Royals will take precedence over the family.
Prince Andrew is yet to be forgiven by the Britons after he defended his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. He was also accused during the interview of being empathetic to the situation.
The Palace has already released a statement last year regarding Prince Andrew’s disastrous Newsnight interview and future royal role.
