Dwayne Johnson Posts A Throwback Photo of Him Sporting His Father's Wrestling Trunks
Living up to his reputation for sharing some amazing pictures on his Instagram account, much to the delight of his 201 million followers on the photo and video-sharing website, Dwayne Johnson posted a throwback picture of him sporting his father's wrestling trunks. The recently shared photo represented his childhood dream of one day becoming a pro wrestling champion.
The photo shared by the former WWE Superstar showed him as a boy proudly sporting white boots and a jacket and a championship belt around his waist, and another belt kept on his shoulder. He posted this sweet Instagram throwback on Oct. 22, and it had garnered over a whopping 3,500,000 likes and more than 21,000 comments at the time of writing.
Describing it as a "Lil throwback action" to the time when he was 11 years old, Johnson said he loved putting on his father's wrestling boots, trunks, jacket, and even championship belts.
He described the photo by writing in the caption section that it represented an 11-year-old boy's dreams of becoming a pro wrestling champion one day.
He also joked about his chest and thanked that he doesn't look like that anymore with hashtag #thankgodforpuberty. The Hobbs & Shaw actor's father, Rocky Johnson, passed away earlier this year at 75. The news was reported by the official WWE website on Jan. 15.
The Canadian professional wrestler made his debut in the WWE back in 1983 and began wrestling with Tony Atlas. Known as The Soul Patrol, their team was touted as the first African American tag team that went on to win the World Tag Team Championship in the WWF (World Wrestling Federation), PEOPLE reported.
The 48-year-old actor spoke about his father's death earlier this year in an emotional Instagram post. In the caption section, Johnson said he wished he had another chance to tell his father that he loved him before he died. He went on to say that his father was taken away from him without warning and will never return.
The Jumanji star admitted that he was in pain but wrote that that the pain will pass. On Oct. 16, Johnson posted another throwback picture of what he described as a 7-year-old in Hawaii. Johnson didn't shy away from poking fun at his buck teeth and an aloha shirt. He expressed surprise that the boy in the throwback photo grew up to become the Sexiest Man Alive, referencing the title PEOPLE awarded him in 2016.
