‘The Crown’ Star Emma Corrin Likens Media’s Treatment Of Meghan Markle With Princess Diana
The Crown star Emma Corrin recently acknowledged the similarities between Princess Diana and Meghan Markle when it comes to how the media treated them.
During her interview with Town & Country, the actress said that she just wants to shake the tabloid and ask them if they can’t see history repeating itself.
Corrin also said that Princess Diana must have expected that marrying Prince Charles meant joining a family that would love and protect her. However, what she got in return was a coldness, strict traditions, and certain expectations of behavior.
Last year, Prince Harry also talked about the ruthless treatment Markle has been receiving from the tabloids. He said that it has reached a point where he feels that he needs to stand up for his wife because it could destroy her.
The Duke of Sussex labeled what the tabloids were doing to the Duchess of Sussex as bullying. He also said that bullying scares and silences people, and it’s not acceptable.
Prince Harry also said that his deepest fear is for history to repeat itself. He also said that he’s seen first-hand what happens when someone he loves is commoditized to the point where they’re no longer regarded as a real person.
After all, Prince Harry saw what happened to Princess Diana when she was still alive. And she also died in Paris while being hounded by the paparazzi.
Decades later, Prince Harry couldn’t help but notice that his wife was also receiving the same treatment from the press.
Meanwhile, Markle also made headlines this week after it was revealed that Prince William wasn’t pleased with how her delivery was announced last year.
In the book Battle of Brothers, author Robert Lacey revealed that the news of Markle and Prince Harry’s son’s birth was announced eight hours after Markle already went home from the hospital.
Prince Harry and Markle decided to delay the news to ensure that they would be able to go home safe and sound was something that Prince William couldn’t understand.
Lacey said that the Duke of Cambridge wasn’t a fan of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s prima donna maneuvers to conceal their son’s birth. After all, when Middleton gave birth to their three kids, they immediately shared the news with the world.
In fact, Prince William and Middleton also stepped out in public to show the world their babies for the first time.
