Sarah Ferguson’s Attempt To Win Back Queen’s Sister Reportedly Backfired With This Cruel Response
Sarah Ferguson reportedly tried to win back Queen Elizabeth’s younger sister, Princess Margaret after her divorce from Prince Andrew.
In the documentary “Fergie: Downfall of a Duchess,” royal correspondent Judy Wade recounted a cruelly unfair moment with Princess Margaret rebuked the Duchess of York’s efforts.
After their falling out, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to Princess Margaret to save their relationship.
But instead of getting a thank you note, Princess Margaret wrote a damning letter to Fergie. She also returned the bouquet of flowers.
“How dare you send me flowers? Have you ever considered what damage you’ve done to the royal family?” Princess Margaret wrote.
According to Wade, the Queen’s younger sister’s bold gesture was a sign of hypocrisy because she was also quite the rebel during her time.
“Princess Margaret was notorious for her behavior. It was totally out of keeping with her position. Margaret was cruelly unfair to do such a thing when it was a kind gesture from Sarah. I think that indicates exactly how the royal family treats someone who steps out of line – except if they’re born royal,” the royal correspondent said.
When she was still alive, Princess Margaret was plagued with controversy due to her affair with Peter Townsend.
Since Townsend was 16 years old than Princess Margaret and he was previously married, their affair was looked down upon by the members of the royal family.
At one point, Princess Margaret was even asked to choose between being a royal and being in a relationship with Townsend and she chose the former.
Despite their tumultuous romance, Townsend only had positive things to say about Princess Margaret.
During a previous interview, he described Princess Margaret as a girl of unusual and intense beauty due to her slender figure, her purple-blue eyes, sensitive lips, and her smooth complexion.
Townsend also said that Princess Margaret had the ability to make people bend double while laughing and to touch other people’s hearts deeply.
Meanwhile, Fergie also made headlines this week after her reaction after Princess Eugenie’s scoliosis surgery was revealed.
During a previous interview, Princess Eugenie described what it was like to undergo such an operation at a young age.
After the successful surgery, Princess Eugenie asked for water, and Fergie said that this was the only time that her daughter didn’t need to have manners.
