Why Meghan Markle's Subtle Nod To Princess Diana In New Portrait Is Controversial - Explained
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle created a big fuzz over the weekend after they released their first portrait since their divorce from the British royal firm.
The black-and-white portrait was published in partnership with Time100 and P&G after the announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be hosting the TIME100 Talks.
The royal pair looked chic in the photo, both sharing casual smiles but what fans have noticed is Meghan Markle’s nod to the late Princess Diana.
Fans are speculating that Meghan Markle donned several of the Princess of Wales jewelry collection in the shot.
Dailymail reported that the Duchess of Sussex wore Dina’s Cartier Tank Français watch, a gift from Prince Harry to Meghan on their wedding day.
But other than that, fans are now saying that Meghan Markle has also donned Princess Dian’s famous aquamarine ring on her right pinky finger.
The Aquamarine ring, which costs over $90,000 was commissioned by the late Princess from Asprey after her bitter divorce with Prince Charles.
It made its first appearance, worn by Princess Diana on a trip to Australia in 1996 in an event for Aid Crisis Trust.
Meghan Markle was then seen wearing the Aquamarine ring on two separate occasions from then on. The first was during her reception in 2018 and the second time was a trip to Tonga.
The beautiful ring, which has not been seen worn since then, is now being alleged by fans as the ring on Meghan’s pinky finger in the photo other than the $350,000 engagement ring.
Fans are speculating that Meghan’s wardrobe cost a total of $500,000 for the shoot. Wearing an Alexander McQueen suit, her engagement ring, the Tank Watch, a Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet and the rumored aquamarine ring from her late mother-in-law.
Both Harry and Meghan Markle have announced their intention in working with Time100. It was announced that they would be speaking with a range of guests.
Town And Country reports that the theme of the talk will be around the topic of ‘Engineering a Better World’ with a focus on building online communities that are safer, trustworthy and compassionate.
The event is partnered with P&G. The couple will also be tackling topics around climate change and will be joined by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa and many more.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are both alumni of Time100 and the event can be viewed in Time’s platforms in the coming weeks.
