Kelly Clarkson Recalls The Time She Was Mistaken For Carrie Underwood
Kelly Clarkson has a reputation for being mistaken for another celebrity. Living up to her notoriety, she was once mistaken for Carrie Underwood, and even signed a fan's autograph as the 37-year-old country singer.
During a recently aired episode of NBC's The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson revealed that she was once confused for an equally popular American Idol alumni, Carrie Underwood in public. She recalled a girl coming up to her and saying her song "So Small," which is actually sung by Carrie Underwood, was one of her favorites.
Clarkson, 38, couldn't help but laugh about the incident. The interaction was even more awkward for her because she realizes that she looks nothing like her fellow American Idol alum. She recalls being embarrassed for the fan, who asked her to sign an autograph, and she went ahead and signed "Carrie Underwood," which now she thinks might be illegal.
Clarkson, who started her show back in June, remembers that she told the fan that the song she was referring to wasn't her song at all. She told the fan that she doesn't have a song called "So Small," so the fan said another song that helped Clarkson realize she was being mistaken for Underwood.
After winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2004, Carrie has since received seven Grammy Awards during the span of her career. Clarkson opened up about his awkward incident during the "I'm Awesome At Being Awkward" game on her talk show. She was accompanied by Cheryl Hines and Michelle Buteau, who were more than eager to engage in the candid conversation.
Keeping in line with the awkward encounter, Hines, 55, recalled a time when a fan thought she was Julie Bowen for the series Modern Family. Buteau, on the other hand, revealed that she has been mistaken for Raven-Symoné and Kim Coles multiple times, DailyMail reported.
Reese Witherspoon had also shared a similar experience back in June when she shared a story of someone mistook her for the "Two Black Cadillacs" country star. Taking to her Twitter account, the actress expressed her gratitude to the woman in the parking lot who asked if she was Carrie Underwood saying, "You officially made my day !"
Clarkson recently hosted the 2020 Billboard Music Awards on Oct. 14. She was dressed to impress as she took center stage as the host for the third time to lead the annual celebration of top-of-the-chart songs.
The "Because Of You" singer switch between seven awe-inspiring looks at the Dolby Auditorium in L.A. She sported an impressive array of metallics including gold, glitter, silver, and bronze through the evening.
