Ruby Rose Returns On Big Screen As Ali In 'The Doorman'
Ruby Rose made a grand comeback to the big screen in the action thriller The Doorman. The 34-year-old actress portrays the role of a former soldier, Ali, who is bent on saving a New York-based family from armed thieves planning to steal their valuable art.
"It was a lot of fun, a lot of fun," Rose told ET's, Ash Crossan. She went on to reveal that her role involved a lot of training and that it was stunt and action-centric. The Australian model said the film is also a lot of fun and entertaining to watch. She told Crossan that she had a lot of pleasure filming The Doorman since it gave her a chance to beat the bad guys up.
Rose underwent surgery last Sept. following on-set injuries that left her facing possible paralysis while filming Batwoman. Despite the injury, she worked on The Doorman before getting an MRI and her doctor informing her that she needed to get surgery as soon as she could.
Australia's Next Top Model co-host recalled telling the doctor that she can't go through the surgery because she was doing a film, but her doctor advised her to avoid doing any sort of stunt. She revealed that they had already completed filming all the stunts by the time her doctor told you to avoid doing any stunts.
Rose attributed her ability to be able to do all the stunts safely to somebody above looking out for her because the finished filming all stunts in the first couple of weeks. By the time she learned that she shouldn't be doing anything, even move her neck or anything for the remaining time, only the acting portion was left for her to shoot,
Much to her relief, Rose did not sustain an injury in the initial two weeks of filming the movie, she said. Her doctor was sweating when she revealed that she has been doing things like punching, kicking, jumping, and flipping. She said the universe took care of her, and she got the surgery the same day she arrived back home.
Rose's injury, coupled with the coronavirus pandemic, left her with no choice but to leave her show, Batwoman, only after one season. She was replaced by Javicia Leslie, who will be playing new character Ryan Wilder, who takes the responsibility of keeping Gotham safe after Kate Kane disappears from the city.
The first photo showing Leslie as Batwoman was unveiled recently, and Rose was super excited to see the actress in her suit. Rose stated that Leslie looked amazing as the Caped Crusader.
