In Robert Lacey’s new explosive memoir ‘Battle of Brothers,’ he reveals the two royals' fallouts. Their love affair, which started in University and their eight-year on-and-off dating history.

According to Lacey, who has released excerpts of his book through the DailyMail, Prince William and Kate Middleton hit a rough patch back in 2007.

The pair were already out of University by that time and Kate Middleton had a job in a clothing company Jigsaw as an accessory buyer.

By that time, Prince William was also in the Royal Air Force studying to become a pilot.

Lacey writes that she got a phone call from Prince William during one of Kate Middleton’s busy workday. The then commoner excused herself and locked herself in a private room, taking an hour before she went back to work.

According to a source, Kate Middleton had a serious talk with Prince William at that time. They were said to be discussing their future, which eventually led the two to separate.

It was one of their more famous falls out, and it was all over the UK media and tabloid. During this time, people were asking whether Prince William and Kate Middleton were ever going to get back together.

The breakup lasted 10 weeks, and during that time, Prince William was said to have gone dating several women, both of aristocratic status and commoners.

But insiders revealed that Prince William was turned down by several of these women. The Prince did end up missing Kate Middleton and her family, which led them to get back together.

The couple is now happily married. They have been together close to a decade and share three royal children together, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.

Both the pair have gone through several scandals during the time they were dating up to their marriage, but they indeed have been fairing the married life well.
