Prince Harry Blamed Prince William For The Backlash He Received After Wearing Nazi Costume
Prince Harry, reportedly, blamed Prince William for the backlash that he received after he was photographed wearing a Nazi costume.
In the book Battle of Brothers, author Robert Lacey said that Prince Harry thought that Prince William should be mentoring him.
When they bought costumes for the party together, the Duke of Cambridge didn’t try to talk Prince Harry out of wearing the Nazi costume. In fact, they even laughed about it on their way home.
But while at the bash, someone took a photo of Prince Harry wearing a Nazi costume and he was lambasted for it.
Prince William, on the other hand, bought a costume that features tight black leggings and furry paws.
“William laughed all the way back to Highgrove with the younger sibling he was supposed to be mentoring—and then onwards to the party together,” Lacey wrote.
Following the backlash, Prince Harry released an apology saying that it was a poor choice in costume. And behind closed doors, Meghan Markle’s husband, reportedly, resented how his brother got away so lightly.
Lacey also made other shocking revelations in the book. For instance, Prince William, reportedly, refused to attend Queen Elizabeth’s Summit in Sandringham after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Megxit because he could stand seeing his brother.
“William maintained his distance for the Sandringham summit. The Queen had suggested the family should gather for lunch before their big pow-wow in the library that afternoon, but he refused his grandmother’s invitation… The Prince himself has not confirmed his friends’ speculation that he was so furious with his younger brother that he would not be able to endure the hypocrisy of smiling at him over lunch,” Lacey said.
The author also revealed that Prince Harry felt excluded from the royal family when the queen didn’t include his and Markle’s photos in the Christmas holiday broadcast.
“All the living heirs and not a suggestion of a spare. The plan of depicting the direct line of royal succession was enthusiastically supported by Prince William, which might be seen as sending his younger brother a message… It was as if Harry had become un-brothered,” Lacey said.
Prince William also, reportedly, asked Princess Diana’s brother to try and convince Prince Harry to not rush into marrying Markle. However, this move backfired and left the Duke of Sussex even more upset.
