Spy films have been a big part of American movie and television programming. It is one of the biggest money-generating plots and millions of Americans gobble up these types of movies, but women spies have been depicted quite erroneously in Hollywood films.

The newest spy film that is creating quite a buzz is an all-female spy film called ‘355’, the movie is being produced by the same production team that brought the Jason Bourne series.

The movie ‘355’ has already gathered some heavy traction after several famous female leads took on the role of the spies in the film.

Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o and Fan Bingbing are set to play the roles of the spies in ‘355’.

The plot of the movies revolves around the five women who work for different spy agencies across the globe. Chastain who works for an Ameican Agency, Cruz for a Colombian Agency, Kruger for a German one, Nyong’o for a British agency and Fan for the Chinese government.

An unlikely partnership is formed between the five women to stop a common enemy. The director of ‘355’ is Simon Kinberg who also worked on the X-men films with Chastain.

According to sources the idea of ‘355’ was born with Chastain and Kinberg met on the set of X-men. The script of ‘355’ is written by Kinberg and Theresa Rebeck.

The newest trailer of the movie has just been released on the official twitter account of the film. The movie strongly depicts the women banding together to stop an unknown force of evil.

The official twitter account of ‘355’ also revealed some information about the characters, Chastain playing Mace, Nyong’o as Khadijah, Cruz as Graciela, Kruger as Marie and Fan as Lin Mi Sheng.

‘355’ will be amongst a new wave of films that will revolve around female leads. Hollywood who has been forced into a change in the past few years due to the lack of diversity in the movie industry is beginning to adapt to the changes well.

All-female ‘Ocean’s 8’ was released back in 2018 and has garnered much attention for the all-female cast. It was a success in the box office as well as with movie critics.

This has led Hollywood to see that women leads are also big moneymakers.
