Queen Elizabeth Allegedly Showed Her Lack Of Support For Harry, Meghan Markle After Saying This
Queen Elizabeth allegedly showed that she is not on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s side with a recent comment that she made.
According to New Idea, the queen recently praised the press for how they have been covering the coronavirus pandemic.
“I am pleased to send my best wishes to the members of the News Media Association. The COVID-19 pandemic has once again demonstrated what an important public service the established news media provides, both nationally and regionally. As our world has changed dramatically, having trusted, reliable sources of information, particularly at a time when there are so many sources competing for our attention, is vital,” the monarch said.
The tabloid claimed that this may be seen as the queen’s way of showing that she doesn’t support the Sussexes because Prince Harry and Markle have been vocal with their dislike for the press.
However, this is merely based on the tabloid’s observation. And both matters should be taken separately. It doesn’t necessarily following that the queen doesn’t like or support the Sussexes just because she expressed her gratitude for the press.
Meanwhile, the queen and the Sussexes recently made headlines amid claims that the monarch had secret plans to send Prince Harry and Markle to South Africa.
In the book Battle of Brothers, author Robert Lacey said that the queen wanted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to have their Malta moment.
And in the documentary The Royal House of Windsor, author Philip Eade also said that Malta holds a special place in the queen’s heart.
“She could for the first time do more or less what she wanted. She could be like a normal young woman. She could go to the hairdresser on her own. She could drive around the island. She could go to restaurants with her husband, go on picnics, and all the while the Maltese people left them alone. And so Malta, for her, represented a great feeling of freedom. In an old interview with TVM, local man Guzeppi Formosa described the love of Maltese people for the Queen and Prince Philip,” he said.
The queen was also very well-loved in Malta. And whenever she’s visiting, the crowds would wait in line for hours just to wave at her. And the queen would return the favor by waving back at them.
Unfortunately, Markle and Prince Harry never had the chance to relocate to South Africa because they already quit. Lacey also slammed the Duchess of Sussex by calling her difficult.
“What you’ve got to realize is that the whole strategy of the monarchy was based on them sticking together. Meghan changed all that. She is difficult,” he said.
