Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Won’t Celebrate Christmas With The Royal Family In Sandringham
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have no plans to celebrate Christmas with the royal family.
While speaking with Vanity Fair, royal author Katie Nicholl revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are enjoying their time in the United States. As such, there are currently no plans for the couple to return to the United Kingdom for Christmas.
Nicholl also said that Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud is playing a huge role in the latter’s decision to not celebrate Christmas with the royal family.
“I don’t think anyone is ready for a cozy family Christmas right now. Let's just say that while things are better between Harry and his brother, it's not what it was,” Nicholl said.
According to reports, Prince Harry and Markle will celebrate the holidays with their friends, David Foster and Katharine McPhee. The American Idol finalist and Markle have known each other since they were students in Los Angeles.
In May, McPhee shared details about her and Foster’s friendship with the Sussexes.
“My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry. They’re like, they’re so cute. They're like father and son. We just stay in touch with them. But mostly, Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really Harry and my husband are friends. It's really nice,” she told Access Hollywood.
Last year, Prince Harry and Markle didn’t also celebrate Christmas with the royal family. Back then, the couple was already contemplating their decision to quit The Firm, which they announced after the New Year.
In November of last year, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Markle said that they will be celebrating the holidays with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland.
“This decision is in line with the precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen,” the statement said.
Shortly after Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in 2011, the royal couple also opted to celebrate the holidays away from the royal family on multiple occasions. And most often than not, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge bring their kids to Middleton’s parents’ house in Berkshire.
However, when Markle and Prince Harry were the ones that decided to not celebrate Christmas with the royal family last year, they were criticized by some royal fans. They accused the Sussexes of freezing out the British clan.
