It seems that Buckingham Palace is not happy with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to cut ties with the British tabloid yesterday.

According to the Daily Mail, an insider from the Palace claims that "We have been left stunned. They have not taken any of our advice." Thomas Glover, a columnist for the tabloid says that such statements show little they think of free press, despite saying that they believe that free press is a cornerstone of democracy.

Harry and Meghan's statement says that they will no longer be answering any queries from any journalist connected to the tabloids and if absolutely necessary, only a lawyer will communicate with them. This "zero engagement" seems to only involve British media, as yesterday Meghan actually appeared on the show 'Good Morning America' through a prerecorded interview. It is her first public appearance since officially stepping down as a senior member of the royal family. She granted an interview in order to promote the Disney documentary 'Elephant', where she serves as the voice-over.

Another thing that the Palace is not pleased with is the timing of Harry and Meghan's announcement. Not only is the UK and the rest of the world battling the coronavirus pandemic, but they also gave the announcement on the eve of Queen Elizabeth's birthday. Many believe that it was in poor taste for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to make such an announcement. But it seems that the two are determined to go their own way now that they are living far away from the UK. Some were not happy with the announcement, but others, like the Independent, think that it's about time they did this.

The couple moved last month to the US after staying in Vancouver. They are said to be residing in Meghan's old area, in Los Angeles. They have not only been spotted walking their dogs but even took time to volunteer to bring over some food to the vulnerable people associated with Project Angel Food.

Now that they can no longer use the Sussex Royal brand, they are also preparing to launch their own brand, Archewell But they have delayed the launch due to the coronavirus pandemic, citing that finding a cure for the virus is what is important now.

Reports said that the couple had plans to go back to the UK in time for the celebration of their son Archie's first birthday. But these plans will not push through due to the lockdown. Instead, they have resorted to using technology to feel closer to the royal side of the family.
