Prince William Won’t Be An Activist Like Prince Charles When He Becomes Prince Of Wales
Prince William will, reportedly, have a very different approach as the next Prince of Wales when Prince Charles ascends the throne.
While speaking with Express, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that Prince Charles is an activist type of Prince of Wales. But his eldest son will most likely champion other causes.
“But the indication is that he might share his father's enthusiasm for certain issues, like for the ivory trade for example. Prince William is unlikely to have the activist element that Charles has shown for so long,” he said.
Fitzwilliams also said that under Prince Charles’ reign, there is a huge possibility for the monarchy to be streamlined. But this is not a problem that Prince William would have to deal with. The royals have some three thousand patronages and institutions that they are attached to.
"They carry out something like three and a half thousand engagements every year. It is very valuable for an institution or charity to have a member of the Royal Family to have a patron. This is because it draws in funds or helps with that, it could mean that the charity can use the palace as a venue, it also means that if they attend an event you can charge more,” the source said.
Meanwhile, no one knows for sure what will happen to the monarchy when Queen Elizabeth’s reign ends. But there are rumors that Prince Charles might not even ascend the throne.
According to the tabloids, the heir to the throne is open to the idea of giving up his position so that Prince William could succeed in the queen. After all, more Britons want to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as their next king and queen.
However, it’s unlikely for this to happen because Prince Charles waited years to ascend the throne. And it’s unlikely for him to just give up his role for his son.
Additionally, Prince William cannot immediately succeed the queen unless Prince Charles ascends the throne first. And the latter decides to abdicate for whatever reason that he might have.
The queen doesn’t also have any say when it comes to the order of succession. After all, the rule simply states that her firstborn child will become her successor, and that’s Prince Charles.
