Jamie Foxx Opens Up About His Return In 'Spider-Man' Movie
Jamie Foxx is back in the Spider-Man! Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made their cast announcement recently and one of the most raising eyebrow cast members was Jamie Foxx. The 52-year-old actor has been previously cast in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which released in 2014.
The actor worked opposite British actor Andrew Garfield as he played Electro. However, Foxx is all set to portray the supervillain again as his role will be reprised in the sequel of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Foxx will be seen locking horns with Tom Holland for being evil and expected to bring new twists and turns in the untitled project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is currently in conversation with Sony and the Marvel Studios for his third collaboration on the Spider-Man franchise. However, Foxx confirmed on Oct. 2 along with a message for best wishes received from Keith Jefferson, who worked with him on Django Unchained.
It is interesting that Sony opts for an unparalleled hand out to the Marvel studio following the failure of Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the box office. However, fans were not sure if Foxx will be roped in for portraying Electro on-screen again.
Similar to the revised version of Spider-Man in which the lead character was replaced with the In the Heart of the Sea star. Although it is great to learn for original Spider-Man fans that Foxx is returning to portray the character. The actor posted on Instagram a caption that hinted towards his entry into the Spider-Man universe again but later deleted that Instagram post.
"Tell Spidey let's run it back! Super excited to part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new installment. And i won't be blue in this one!! but a thousand percent badass," Foxx shared on his social media. The next Spider-Man movie is going to mark the actor's return to the Marvel Studio for the second time that will bring new distort in the character.
Besides Foxx, even J.K. Simmons also returned to Far From Home as J. Jonah Jameson's character while he played the same character in Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. The arrival of Electro will also mark one more character from Sinister Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Vulture portrayed by Michael Keaton, Scorpion by Michael Mando, and Mysterio played by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Tony Revolori, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya are anticipated to mark their return alongside Holland. The upcoming sequel is helmed by Jon Watts and slated to release next year on Dec. 17.
