Matthew Morrison Addresses Naya Rivera's Family Following Her Death
Matthew Morrison still couldn't get over Naya Rivera's devastating death, which took place in July. The 41-year-old actor addressed the 33-year-old actress during an interview with Keltie Knight and shared fond memories of working on Glee.
The late actress Rivera's body was found on July 13 in Lake Piru near California's Ventura County. The Royal Family star went for boating with Josey, her four-year-old son one week before her body was found. However, the death certificate obtained by the officials confirmed that drowning was the reason for her death.
Morrison who worked with Rivera on the musical series said she was entertaining on the sets and used to make her co-stars Darren Criss, Amber Riley, Lea Michele, and others laugh during the filming. The What to Expect When You're Expecting star said that Rivera was like a bright light and someone who kept everyone close on the sets.
Morrison noted that she was a witty person who loved to joke around. The actor disclosed that the entire cast used to work for more than 16 hours a day and the late actress used to help with her fun nature to pull it off with ease. The actor explained that it feels weird to address her as "was". Although he continued that she will always remain a special person while he also addressed her family.
"The upbringing that that child is going to be exposed to because his mother is not there, you know? It's gotta be so tough, so my heart goes out to that family." the actor said while mentioning that he is also the father of a son and he can't imagine raising him without a mother.
The actor also spoke about his musical non-profit organization, Keep Music Alive. Morrison is the spokesperson of the Annual Kids Music Day, which held on Oct. 2. The event will celebrate and benefit children who love playing music and it will also shed light on the importance of music in the regular education of a child.
Morrison revealed that the organization has chosen him this year for campaigning them officially. However, the ongoing pandemic has started various online classes including musical instruments in which children can learn what different instruments are used and how they work.
The actor acknowledged that music has been an important part of his life and wherever he has reached in his career is because of music. This is the actor's way of giving back to help the music industry.
