Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon Reacts To First Debate For Presidential Race
The first presidential debate took place on Sept. 29 and celebrities from every industry came forward to share their opinion. The Late-night hosts also took a dig at the presidential debate between former vice president of the United States Joe Biden and current president Donald Trump.
Jimmy Fallon took his late-night chat show, The Tonight Show, and addressed the debate in a comedic way. The 46-year-old host jokingly asked that was exactly done he saw on television and questioned if it was even a debate. He further said that after watching the debate it felt like he slept on an "air mattress".
The event was held without any commercial advertisement for 90 minutes and the host noted the legitimately discussed policies of the debate. The host asked further if it was helpful to anyone in the United States or anyone thinks they took anything useful from the discussion.
"The only person who enjoyed that was Vladimir Putin while he was stroking a cat. Sitting through that debate felt like getting a COVID test in both nostrils at once," Fallon said as he laughed about the first debate.
Another host, Stephen Colbert spoke on similar lines on his show, The Late Show, and called out the debut to be absolutely empty. He opened the show by welcoming everyone to an "empty vessel". He further noted that both of them continuously kept interrupted each other during the debate and there is no point in fact-checking.
Moreover, the 56-year-old host said that he won't even do "sentence finding". Colbert further said that he is surprised to be excited about the vice presidential debate as there is nothing interesting in the presidential debate.
He jokingly said that it’s great to already have children otherwise he would have sterilized himself by watching such a debate. The Jimmy Kimmel Live show host also spoke about the debate and called it "terrible". The 52-year-old host called out both the candidates and said that it was worse than a nightmare because at least he could grab some sleep while experiencing a nightmare.
On the Late Night With Seth Meyers show, the host interesting taped his segment even before the debate went on-air and predicted what exactly is going to happen. He said in the segment that he has no clue what's going to happen next but he seemed pretty sure that it is not going to be useful enough for the people.
