'DWTS': Carole Baskin Slams Haters Following Her Elimination
In the new season of Dancing With the Stars, Carole Baskin turned out to be the second celebrity contestant to get eliminated. While the haters took social media to bash the 59-year-old activist, she fired back at them with a message.
In an interview with Lauren Zima, the big-cat rights activist discussed her elimination through video chat followed by Sept. 28 episode. Baskin said that she loves her supporters and haters equally as both help her to stay relevant.
"With all the horrible things that have been said and all the wonderful things that have been said, people are talking about big cats and why they don't belong in cages," she said. Moreover, she revealed that there is nothing more that makes her happier than people talking about cats.
Baskin spent a limited amount of time on the show but she managed to grab the attention of the viewers to her work and her cause. However, she admitted not being surprised by the fact that her elimination took place so early.
She confessed that contestants who managed to continue on the show are well-deserved as they know how to dance and that goes with the show's core idea. Pasha Pashkov, who was a professional dancing partner of Baskin was listed at the bottom of the latest episode along with other dancing pair Keo Motsepe and Anne Heche.
Despite performing on Lion King's theme, Baskin's performance didn't impress the judges and she got voted out. However, Baskin isn't disappointed at all and thanked Dancing With the Stars for providing her a platform to speak about her cause, which is rescuing big cats.
The Tiger King star admitted that she has "accomplished" for which she came on the show. During the interview, Baskin was accompanied by Pashkov as he thanked the professional dancer to help her out with dancing.
Baskin said that she didn't expect anything from the show as she didn't think anyone could ever make her dance. Pashkov and Baskin performed on Survivor's Eye of the Tiger and did the Paso Doble for their first episode. For their second dance, they did the Viennese waltz on What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones.
The last performance was based on The Circle of Life, in which both the performers wore lion costumes and had relevant makeup on. Along with the performance, Baskin delivered a message regarding the dangers of breeding the big cats illegally.
