Willow Smith Says She Is Proud Of Her Mother Jada Pinkett Smith For Her Entanglement Admission
Willow Smith publicly talked about her mother Jada Pinkett Smith's "entanglement” with August Alsina on Red Table Talk, where the singer revealed what she really thought about her mother's compromising relationship with rapper August Alsina. Pinkett Smith and Smith talked about their marital woes on the Facebook Watch series back in July.
During the episode, the Girl’s Trip actress admitted to having a relationship with the 27-year-old rapper, during a break in her marriage four and a half years ago. Willow, 19, made an appearance on the table earlier this week for a new season with her mother and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris.
"I want to put it on the table. I'm so proud of you,” Willow said of her mother's courage to admit to her entanglement with Alsina. She went on to say that witnessing her mother and father doing that for her helped her realize how much they loved her.
During the Red Table Talk episode featuring Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, the actress revealed that she and the MIB actor decided to separate with the intention to divorce. Noting that they separated for a time, the actress explained that it was to allow them to figure out what makes them happy, adding that in both their minds, they were over.
She went on to talk about her relationship with Alsina, referring to it as an entanglement. This episode took place a month after Alsina revealed on The Breakfast Show that he was romantically involved with a mom of two.
Alsina said he gave himself to the relationship for years of his life, adding that he has "tons of love for her." The singer claimed she devoted himself to the relationship, giving his full self to it to the extent, he said, he was willing to die right now and still be okay knowing he gave himself for somebody.
Following the episode, Alsina released a song entitled, “Entanglements” seemingly about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. He told PEOPLE magazine in Aug. that he spoke about his relationship in the first place because his reputation was affecting his business dealings.
The R&B singer said although he didn't really care what people thought of him, he realized that his personal life was affecting his business life. He explained that there were certain falsities about him, which affected his business relationships.
Will and Jada tied the wedding knot back in 1997, and have two children together, 21-year-old Jaden and Willow. The 52-year-old actor also has a son Trey, 27, from a previous relationship.
