2009’s supernatural epic drama "Avatar" is a movie that couldn’t satisfy the viewers or probably, it gave them too much that they left the cinema asking for more. So it was easily a no-brainer to roll out the "Avatar" extensions to feed the ever-growing appetite of supernaturality buffs.  

In the same spirit, director James Cameron has raised the multiple corners with his announcement that the production of "Avatar 2" is 100% complete, and "Avatar 3" is on the verge of completion.  One of the most anticipated movies of the decade, Avatar 2’s production came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic and like other big-budget projects, it wasn’t expected to be wrapped up anytime soon.

However, to everyone’s amazement, James Cameron has done the job pretty quickly and hasslefree – without anybody in the industry hearing about it.

In the recent conversation on his YouTube channel with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cameron discussed what to expect of the movie, production, and related details. He also shed light on the difficulties faced by the team and contributors during the production.

As per what the director said, about four and a half months of production were lost due to the coronavirus. As a consequence of that, they have pushed back the release date by one more full year for a release in December of 2022 for "Avatar 2," which has already been announced.

But the filmmaker didn’t take that as an extra year to work on the project, instead, that meant he had to work hard the filmmaker mentioned that the delay does not mean he has an extra year to finish the film. As per the director, the day they wrap up the shooting of "Avatar 2," the balls would be rolling on the Avatar 3.

Avatar 2 features mostly underwater scenes that have reportedly been shot close to perfection – quite in line with how the first one was done. The shot from the shoot has been posted from the official "Avatar" Instagram profile displays a breathtaking underwater moment. 

The filmmaker who is currently working on the third part "Avatar," said of the release date: “COVID hit us like it hit everybody… We lost about four and a half months of production. As a result of that, we’ve rolled around one more full year for a release in December of 2022. That’s been announced already.”

The risks were high and the job was incredibly tough, but the industry vet has made it on time.
