Royal Coronation Update: Prince Charles And Prince William Not Competent To Become Head-Of-State, Republic Calls For A Democratic Election
The coronation of Prince Charles to become the reigning sovereign of the United Kingdom is not a question of why or how but it is a question of when. The inevitable fact that the current sovereign now, Queen Elizabeth II will pass away is hanging like knives on the UK government.
This issue has raised several discussions as to whether Prince Charles or even Prince William is capable of ruling the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth Nations.
CEO of Republic, Graham Smith has taken it upon himself to lobby an election, on which UK citizens can vote as to who they want their head-of-state to be.
Republic is an organization that aims to abolish the UK Monarchy and change it to a democratic institution.
Mr. Graham defended his claims by saying that there are millions of UK citizens who do not approve of Prince Charles or Prince William becoming head-of-state.
He continued on by saying that the only reason why the monarchy is still very much alive is due to Queen Elizabeth II.
Mr. Graham pointed out that the people of Britain should stop accepting the immediate accession of a Prince or Princess as head-of-state, and that the people should be able to vote as to who they want the head-of-state to be.
The British monarchy has been one of the longest monarchies still functioning today, although they have no real power over the governance, the word of the Queen still ways heavy on numerous subjects for the betterment of the UK.
Prince Charles has also gathered some bad rep for involving himself in politics quite often, according to Graham.
There have also been rising concerns as to Prince Charles's accession and regarding the 54 Commonwealth nations.
With the announcement of Barbados separating itself from the British monarchy, it has been a growing concern of officials that many other nations will follow suit.
According to a palace insider, officials believe that many of the nations still have great trust in the British monarchy given the Queen's leadership. However, Prince Charles taking her place is not an assurance that the commonwealth’s trust will be on the same level as before.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already condemned the British monarchy for still having commonwealth nations, a reminder of the British imperialism, according to the couple.
Once Prince Charles becomes King, he will too become the head-of-state of the commonwealth nations.
The palace has not yet released a rebuttal on Mr. Graham’s claims.
