Carole Baskin Gets Defamation Case By Daughters Of Her Missing Husband
Carole Baskin has been making headlines for various good and bad reasons. While she has participated in Dance With The Stars, she also got under the fire for using animal print and not performing well on the show.
However, this time Baskin has been in the spotlight as she got sued by the family of her missing husband, Jack Donald Lewis. As per the documents received, Lewis' daughters named Donna, Lynda, and Gale along with former executive assistant of Lewis, Anne McQueen has sued Baskin for cracking immoral puns on her missing husband.
The jokes referred to in the court obtained documents mentioned the TikTok video presented by the judges of the Dancing With the Stars series that was based on Tiger King's storyline. Lewis went missing in August 1997 from Florida and declared dead after five years in 2002.
There was a series featured on Netflix made on Lewis' disappearance after Joe Exotic claimed that Baskin murdered her husband, which was denied by the CEO of Big Cat Rescue and activist. As per the lawsuit, the daughters of Lewis claimed that while the jokes were being cracked on their father, Baskin should have corrected the judges or condemn on Dancing With The Stars.
Moreover, the 59-year-old activist has been accused of being "complicit in jokes" about their father during an interview with Good Morning America talk show. The documents also mentioned that Baskin updated the relationship status on social media and other websites with Lewis.
Allegedly, has also changed the entry dates in the diary and claimed that those moments took place in the past. The family of Lewis revealed the statement in which Jon Phillips, who is a family attorney mentioned defamation and several breaches of contracts. Reportedly, Baskin paid $50,000 to settle a defamation case in 1998.
"These exact same false statements, and additional ones, are being made again in 2020. It is malicious. Making matters worse, Howard Baskin is making these same statements publicly, as is Big Cat Rescue," the statement revealed.
However, amid break between the performances the network telecasted a commercial on Dancing With The Stars last week regarding the disappearance incident. In an interview with ET, Phillips opened up about the commercial and why they announced a $100,000 reward for anyone providing information.
The attorney further explained that Baskin keeps setting her narrative on daily basis through blogs, Facebook, and YouTube. Although the family of Lewis never got a chance to speak their side of the story.
