Royal Family Deliberately Snubbed Meghan Markle From Prince Harry’s Birthday Greeting
The royal family is still receiving backlash for deliberately snubbing Meghan Markle from Prince Harry’s birthday greeting.
According to Woman’s Day, the British clan tellingly omitted Prince Harry’s wife from their photo choices. This sparked claims that Markle is still at odds with the royal family or at least with the senior royals.
The so-called Sussex Squad also immediately came to Markle’s defense following the snub.
“The shade of them using a picture without his wife,” one person commented.
“Interesting photo selection – no Meghan,” another person wrote.
But there were also a few who said that it’s the right decision for the royal family to not include Markle in their birthday greetings to Prince Harry.
“Why would any of the senior royals include Meghan when she’s wreaked havoc on their establishment and then taken Harry overseas permanently? I’m not sure what else she would expect,” the critic wrote.
Meanwhile, days have already passed since Prince Harry’s birthday and it seems that he and Markle are business as usual. The couple just signed a multiyear deal with Netflix. And they are gearing to produce inspirational content for their fans.
But before this happened and before their Megxit, it was recently revealed that Prince Harry and Markle grew frustrated with the royal family. As such, they decided to quit in January.
In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that Prince Harry and Markle felt sidelined by Prince William and Kate Middleton. After all, the Cambridges’ charity work was seemingly being prioritized over Prince Harry and Markle’s.
Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also became frustrated when they saw Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas display last year. Behind the queen during her annual Christmas speech were photos of Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Middleton. However, the Sussexes weren’t there.
In the documentary Meghan and Harry: The New Revelations, royal editor Russell Myers said that the Sussexes were clearly upset by this decision.
“The lack of a photograph of them during the Queen's Christmas speech obviously had an effect on them. The book will tell you in detail how this made them feel. They felt it was a slight, they felt put out. Harry felt as though he and Meghan had long been sidelined by the institution and were not a fundamental part of its future. One didn't have to look further than the family photos displayed during the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day,
he said.
