Thomas Rhett and Carrie Underwood speak about the historic tie. While the singers thought it was something unique that has never happened before, they were equally glad by the tie.

In an interview with Rachel Smith, Rhett revealed that his heart was beating fast at the moment as he saw Underwood in the corridor. He confessed that he has no clue how to feel about it. The 30-year-old singer said that backstage followed by the announcement of Keith Urban that both the singers have won the same title on Sept. 16.

The singer said that Underwood has been an idol to him and winning the same title in the same year is simply "unbelievable". The It Goes Like This singer admitted being extremely focused in order to win this title for a long time and he is grateful that he received the award this year. However, he said that sharing this award with someone he idolizes is a bonus.

"It feels absolutely amazing because Carrie has set the bar to me for entertainment for so long, vocalist, songwriter, amazing artist. And so just to be nominated in this category is a huge deal, but to actually tie it with her for the first time in ACM history, I'm honestly speechless, to tell you the truth... I don't have any words. I'm sorry, my heart is beating so fast," Rhett said.

He acknowledged that there are a bunch of people behind his success and this is something that no one should take for granted. Underwood turned out to be the first-ever female to earn the Academy of Country Music Award for Entertainer of the Year 3 times.

The 37-year-old singer has back to back won the title twice in 2008 and 2009. Later, for the next two years, Taylor Swift earned the title. Swift and Underwood became the only two women who earned the title more than once. Garth Brooks is the only person who holds six awards in the same title.

Underwood said that it is fantastic to earn such a title and acknowledged the fact that there are several people behind her success as she accepts the award. She said with giggles how much she loves to share. However, she noted that in the year 2020 she didn't expect anything to happen normally. She further said that no one is aware of what will pan out next this year.
