Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, reportedly, shocked the royal family with their decision to quit The Firm.

According to reports, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William only found out about their decision to quit hours before the official announcement was made.

But in the couple’s statement, they made it clear that they thought long and hard about their decision. This means that they had the time to inform the royal family about their plans had they really wanted to share it with them.

In the book Finding Freedom, sources also revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex caused upset with the royal family because of their website. Prince Harry and Markle shared details about Megxit on their site that the royal family didn’t know about.

“Even sources close to Harry and Meghan had to admit that the way the couple was forced to approach the situation (mainly in the act of keeping the family and their team in the dark about the website) created a lot of ill will in the household and especially in the family,” they said.

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand also said that Prince Harry and Markle felt like they had no other choice in their drastic approach. After all, they were convinced that the royal family was patronizing them.

“Harry and Meghan, however, felt they had been patronized by other family and staff members for too long. People had humored them when they brought up their grievances,  never thinking the couple would actually do anything drastic. The explosive reaction was a direct result of their growing impatience. If other members of the family and those working with the households had taken their requests more seriously, it wouldn't have reached that point,” they said.

The authors of Finding Freedom also revealed that Prince Harry and Markle tried informing the queen about their plans beforehand. In fact, they set a meeting with her in January.

However, the monarch had to postpone the meeting due to some unknown reasons. And it seemed as though the Sussexes could no longer wait any longer. As such, they shocked everyone with their statement.

Initially, sources claimed that Prince Charles was incandescent with rage following their Megxit. The queen was also, reportedly, very upset.

But things have simmered down a bit and it seems that Prince Harry and Markle are already on good terms with the royal family.
