Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for decades. And tabloids seem to be unable to wait when she would retire.

Throughout the past couple of years, they have been publishing dubious stories about the queen’s retirement and abdication. While nothing has been finalized yet, and she’s still very much able to do her job, the tabloid are convinced that it’s only a matter of time before the queen bids her post goodbye.

Gossip Cop recently compiled some of the most absurd rumors surrounding the queen’s abdication.

New Idea claimed that the queen’s last will and testament was leaked. This was, allegedly, one of the signs that she’s close to abdicating. And worse, she’s also, allegedly, dying.

Since the tabloid published their story during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, they claimed that the queen was isolating because she’s sick and not because of the deadly virus.

But the truth was, the queen is at risk for COVID-19 because of her age. As such, she and Prince Philip immediately isolated together.

During the pandemic, the queen still made video call appearances, which proved that she wasn’t sick or dying.

OK! magazine also preyed on both the queen’s age and COVID-19 when they published a story saying that Her Majesty was abdicating due to the virus.

Since the queen is 94, the tabloid claimed that she realized it’s about time for her to pass on the baton to the next generation.

However, Gossip Cop quickly debunked the claims by saying that the queen isn’t abdicating or passing on the throne to Prince Charles. In fact, Her Majesty doesn’t have the ability to just pass on the throne to her son.

The only way for Prince Charles to become king is if the queen dies or becomes incapable of ruling Britain.

Other than Prince Charles, OK! magazine also claimed that the queen is eyeing to pass on her job to Camilla Parker Bowles. When Prince Charles ascends the throne, Camilla will become his queen consort.

However, this doesn’t mean that Camilla will take over the queen’s role. After all, she isn’t the heir to the throne. By then, Britain will have a king instead of a queen like Prince Charles’ mom.

When the time comes that the queen decides to abdicate or dies, the news will come straight from the palace and not from tabloids.
