Prince William and Kate Middleton remembered Prince Harry on his 36th birthday. But their greeting drew a slew of mixed reactions from royal fans.

On the official Instagram account for Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a photo of themselves with Prince Harry at a Heads Together event.

In the snap, all three royals are running and grinning from ear to ear. It’s also evident that Prince Harry is leading the race.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today!” they captioned the photo together with a cake and balloon emoji.

However, royal fans were quick to accuse the Cambridges of shading Meghan Markle simply because she isn’t featured in the photo.

“Interesting photo selection! No Meghan…” one person wrote (via Fox News).

“The shade of them using this pic rather than one including his wife,” another person wrote.

“There must have been hundreds of photos you could have picked, but you chose to post one of Harry, William, and Kate. I’m sure not including Meghan wasn’t unintentional. Not very classy…” a third person commented.

Others couldn’t help but notice how happy Prince Harry is the photo, which was taken before he and Markle tied the knot.

“He was visibly so much happier in these times. Such a shame he’s been so manipulated into sidelining his family and friends. Back when relationships were intact aka pre-Meghan era,” they commented.

However, there were also some people that defended Prince Harry and Middleton amid the criticisms.

“Most birthday posts here are of Kate, William and the birthday person, or even individual pics of the birthday person, even the Queen’s birthday pic didn’t include the Duke of Edinburgh: check out the others, Princess Anne, Prince George, Duke of Edinburgh, even Kate’s herself… Nothing wrong with this, no hidden message, they just don’t include everyone in a birthday pic x,” one person wrote.

“What is wrong with everyone upset they didn’t include Meghan in the picture. 1) it’s Harry’s birthday. 2.) they posted a picture of Meghan alone on her birthday and no one asked where’s Harry! People are always looking for something where there’s nothing. That’s his brother, 3.) and all things considered… i.e. the book… why are you surprised though?” another person commented.

Middleton and Markle’s fans have been divided for years. And there have also been claims that the sisters-in-law’s respective fans are threatening each other on social media.
