Donald Trump’s Words On COVID Vaccine Don’t Interest Young People, Poll Says
President Donald Trump has a big problem in front of him – not many in the country are trusting his COVID vaccine strategy.
As the World Health Organization declared coronavirus as a global pandemic, countries across the globe hopped into a global race of vaccine development which also led to fears that they may not be entirely safe for use.
For the United States, the vaccine agenda has taken a wholly different shape – primarily due to the 2020 presidential election. The date is Nov. 3, and if the vaccine is made available in the country before the big date, Trump may get some advantageous attention from citizens/voters.
Unfortunately, the President is being doubted over the credibility of the vaccine. As per a new report from NBC News/Survey Monkey Weekly Tracking Poll, the number of people who sided with the government-approved coronavirus vaccine has come down. As a matter of fact, the poll was conducted on people who earlier said they would take the government-approved vaccine.
In an interesting turn of events, only 26% of people say they trust Trump over his vaccine strategy. On the other hand, an uncomfortable set of 52% of people say they don’t have faith in what the Trump administration has to say about America getting a vaccine before other nations. Twenty percent say they don’t know whether to trust or not.
Still, the positivity is considerably high among Trump’s Republican supporters reaching up to 58 percent.
Among everybody in the breakdown, adults are most skeptical about Trump’s vaccine hopes and it is possible that they see it as an election bait. Although the approval numbers have always been extremely volatile, this is the first time that there is a significant drop in Trump’s support for the vaccine.
It may be so due to Trump’s ever-changing stance on the coronavirus. At the get-go of the pandemic, the President didn’t seem to understand the gravity of the threat, however - as the toll rose and the United States emerged as the new hotspot of the pandemic, the worst-hit nation, Trump quickly adopted a proactive approach towards the pandemic.
President inked deals with vaccine companies that are leading the way to the successful launch assuring America of fast and first immunity against the deadly coronavirus. However, as he announced that the vaccine may be available before the US presidential election, people have begun smelling the rat. Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris said she wouldn’t trust a vaccine that’s available before the election.
