In the midst of the pandemic, the royal family had to go into lockdown, just like the entirety of the world. But despite the unfortunate happening of COVID19, the royal family showed resilience and continued to talk on important topics, adapting to the ‘new normal’, which is a virtual approach.

Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, is one of the many royals who continued to work under the stress of the pandemic.

One project that is close to the heart of the Duchess is photography, numerous photographs of the Duchess of her family has been posted on their Instagram.

The Duchess has an eye for photography, so it was only proper that she was to be a patron of the National Portrait Gallery in Britain.

Together with the National Portrait Gallery, Kate Middleton launched a campaign urging British citizens to capture moments of theirs during the lockdown called ‘The Hold Still’ campaign

‘The Hold Still’ campaign aimed to show and upheave the spirits of the British people by showcasing the resilience of humans during the pandemic.

The project had three themes, which are, helpers and heroes, your new normal and acts of kindness.

The campaign was a success with over 31,000 submissions. Kate and the National Portrait Gallery broke it down to 100 photos instead of only one winning photo.

The Queen released a statement after ‘The Hold Still’ campaign was launched, praising Kate for her successful campaign and congratulating the photos chosen by the Duchess and the National Portrait Gallery.

The project was launched this week, with the 100 photographs being displayed, online and in real life. Yet, many of the royal fans were not ecstatic about the Duchess’ project.

The royal fan compared Kate Middleton’s projects to that of Meghan Markle’s, The Duchess of Sussex. Many took to Twitter to air out their opinion on Kate’s campaign.

“Karen Middleton has so 0 impacts that the Queen is forced to support her work to be valued,” a Twitter user wrote.

Others agreed with the criticisms of Kate’s projects. Some brought up the fact that Kate Middleton was not seen supporting her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle during her time in the royal family.

Another critic pointed out that the National Portrait Gallery created the campaign and Kate was only the poster child for the project.

Although many criticized the Duchess’ campaign, others on the other hand praised the campaign and only had a positive opinion on ‘The Hold Still’ campaign.
