Will Second Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Be Donald Trump's Poll Booster?
Seemingly, the U.S. President Trump is on a thrill ride – one moment he makes a blunder and is mocked for the same, the other moments he gives a strong statement with some high-profile achievements.
One more time, it’s positive news for the President who is currently involved in a cut-throat campaign battle with his Democratic rival Joe Biden for the 2020 presidential election.
It has not even been a week since the POTUS received his first Nobel Peace Prize nomination for brokering the historic peace deal between the United Arab Emirates and Israel - and now, he has received his second nomination for repeating the same between the nations of Serbia and Kosovo.
Via a tweet on Friday, the member of the Swedish Parliament, Magnus Jacobsson announced he was nominating the two European nations and the Trump administration for their “joint work for peace and economic development, through the cooperation agreement signed in the White House.”
It was last Friday that President Trump hosted the leaders of the two nations to sign a landmark economic normalization agreement for peace, prosperity, and an all-inclusive development of the two nations.
As mentioned in the tweet, the cooperation agreement between the nations was signed in the US President’s residence White House. According to Jacobsson, communication and trade are prerequisites for development and peace in an economy.
The nomination has brought Trump in the much-needed positive limelight - which there has been a little dearth of throughout his course of a presidency.
On Wednesday, the POTUS was nominated for the prestigious recognition by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, the member of the Norwegian Parliament, for his impactful efforts to bring the nations of UAE and Israel together. Tybring-Gjedde considers Donald Trump’s contribution to society to be more significant than any other nominee in recent years.
Going by the detail available on the official Nobel website, 318 candidates have been nominated for the 2020 Peace Prize so far and the winner of the 2021 Prize will be announced after the month of October next year.
As yet, no significant positive correlation has been observed between the Peace prize nomination and election polls moving in favor of Trump. But double nomination for the prestigious award may certainly have a favorable impact on people’s perception of the President.
Donald Trump has not had many moments which he could clearly talk highly of, however, this feat is something that he may use as a solid proof of his system of working.
