Charli D'Amelio Talks About Her Eating Disorders
Charli D'Amelio opened up about her personal struggles when it comes to eating. The 16-year-old media personality disclosed on her social networking on Sept. 10 that she has been dealing with her eating disorders for a long time.
The star wrote that she always strives to use the platform and her fame to address issues regarding body but somehow she noted that her own struggles were sidelined. Given that, she revealed her hustle with food with her fans and followers.
"I've always tried to use my voice when it comes to issues surrounding body image, but I've never talked about my own struggles with eating disorders. It's so uncomfortable to admit to even your closest friends and family, let alone the world," she wrote.
While she admitted that it is difficult to talk about such issues with family and friends, she ultimately spoke about the issue in order to help others. The TikTok star wrote that she has been afraid to talk about her own eating disorder but she understands the battle many people are fighting in their closet.
D'Amelio also took the opportunity and apologized for the Prom Queen song that "unintentionally" caused discomfort to several people. The song was created by the pop band, Beach Bunny and it was used on her TikTok video which has been deleted after the controversy.
The song was originally released in 2018 and it became a hot topic since it body-shamed girls for not having the perfect body. The lyrics of the songs literally asked girls to count their calories and made women feel worse about not having blue eyes and blonde hair along with a perfect figure.
D'Amelio confessed that when she used the song, she had no clue it will trigger her fans. She wrote an apology in her message again and said that it was not her intention to hurt anyone. However, she addressed the people who are struggling with eating disorders and said that some days are terrible compared to others.
She encouraged her audience to swipe up on her Instagram story to ensure that they get proper help for their disorder. She wrote further that her fans are not alone in this and one should never feel ashamed to reach out for help.
Previously, D'Amelio has received comments on her weight in the comments section. She instantly slammed those users for body shaming and asked them to be respectful towards others. She was highly appreciated by her fans for calling out such a user.
