Katie Holmes’ boyfriend, Emilio Vitolo was, reportedly, engaged to designer Rachel Emmons before he met the actress.

Shortly after they hung out, Vitolo, reportedly, decided to call it quits with his fiancée.

According to Daily Mail, Vitolo broke up with Emmons via text shortly before his photos canoodling with Holmes made headlines.

“They had concrete wedding plans in the works. Now, she is just left with bad press and forced to move home,” a source said.

As of late, Emmons has not yet commented on her and Vitolo’s split. But just six weeks ago, the designer shared a loved-up photo of herself with her then-fiancé.

Several other photos of Emmons's Instagram account are of her and Vitolo. And the snap shows them looking very happy.

“You are my favorite part of life & I will love you forever,” she captioned one of their snaps.

In another post, Emmons also gushed over her “future husband.”

“The most celebratory, generous, honest, genuine person I’ve ever met. You always have my back and make every day a new adventure. You walk into a room and people gravitate to you. I couldn’t feel more lucky to spend the rest of my life with you. @emiliovitolo,” she wrote.

Weeks ago, Vitolo and Holmes made headlines after they were photographed during their night out. In the snaps, the Dawson’s Creek star looks very happy while sitting on her boyfriend’s lap.

According to Daily Mail, Holmes was aware of Vitolo’s engagement. But she still went on with their relationship. The publication also accused Holmes of rebounding after her split from Jamie Foxx, which happened a couple of months ago.

“Katie and Emilio met through mutual friends and have been ‘friendly’ since October of last year. Katie definitely knew Emilio had a fiancée and started something with him while he was very much living with his fiancée. They have been strong since March, but it got more serious after she returned from Ohio where she kept quarantine with her family,” a source said.

The insider also said that Holmes is seemingly just enjoying her relationship with Vitolo because she just got out of a six-year relationship with Foxx.

“Jamie broke Katie into pieces. It took Katie a while to get over it and she had a lot of drunken nights. Everyone is surprised by the way this romance happened and how to open Katie is being about her new man. Some of her relatives are upset, they do not understand why Katie acts like a teenage girl in love with so many silly and ridiculous displays of love, she is 41 years old and they expect her to act like one,” the source said.
