Scavengers are at the forefront of the current situation in Academy City. A Certain Scientific Railgun T Episode 23 is titled Possession.

The official preview trailer for A Certain Scientific Railgun T Episode 23 is out hinting what is in store for the characters.

“This is bad, this is bad, this is bad! We are still traumatized by the memory of Academy City’s first ranked beating us to a pulp, and now we are facing the third-ranked Railgun?! No, wait a second! If we can pull this off, we might just make our comeback! And all of that took 0.1 seconds!” reads the preview for episode 23.

In the previous episode, Scavengers are looking for the puppet. Kuriba Ryoko talks about the risk of Doppelganger and the soul. She reveals that it is believed that what people call a soul is linked to the body.

She adds when the body stops functioning, the soul goes away. However, if the Doppelganger has a soul dwelling within her, it is only temporarily stuck withing the machinery.

Even if the host is broken, the soul does not go away, it just becomes untethered. And an untethered soul will spread out from the host into the surroundings.

This free soul has the ability to possess any material and control it as it pleases. She fears that it can even take over the Academy City itself.

Ryoko has informed the lab, but they are not ready to consider her negative views. She states that the artificial body that started out being a cyborg has a safety function inside it.

If they decide to shut down the mechanical functions, it would directly impact the biologicals. It is programmed to not cause any harm more than a certain level of damage.
