Steve Harvey Explains Live Audience Concept Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Steve Harvey revealed how he is going to live with the audience amid pandemic restrictions. The host explained that he had built a bar for his father, a green room set up along with weekly tests for coronavirus.
The 63-year-old host is all set to launch season two of STEVE on Watch, which is his series on Facebook Watch premiering on Sept. 14. The entire show is being shot through his mansion located in Atlanta, Georgia.
While the COVID-19 pandemic began, Harvey's show season one was already live but the host didn't hold on the project in the box for long. The comedian seems to be taking the global crisis with a pinch of salt as he began the next season.
In an interview with ET, the comedian revealed that he is currently filming from his house and he is glad to see a live audience. He noted that everyone has been quarantined for more than six months and it is a blessing to work again.
“Y'all, I've been in quarantine since March. It's a blessing to be working, so I'm happy. I like seeing all these people around here because I was tired of talking in my house, and I've been talking to the same person for five months,” Harvey said.
There are many television hosts who have not stopped filming even during the pandemic and kept their audience entertained. One of the most popular shows that went on-air amid the pandemic was a controversial show, Ellen DeGeneres.
The show made headlines for negative reasons that involved producers of the show alleged with workplace misconduct by former staff members and current employees. The outlet asked Harvey if he had to advise for DeGeneres and the host didn't shy away from it.
He noted that DeGeneres has a good amount of financial backup. Harvey confessed if he was financially as good as DeGeneres then he would have quit. However, he noted being on her show for a couple of times and consider the 62-year-old host to be the "coolest" person he ever came across in the entertainment business.
While he mentioned not seeing anything wrong on her set, he also clarified that it doesn't mean that nothing happened on the set ever. However, Harvey again emphasized that DeGeneres is one of the best people. The daytime talk show host has experienced such drama first hand as his show got canceled in 2019 by NBC.
