There was a time when Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts were one of the hottest couples of Hollywood. The actress was at the peak of her career in the nineties after her blockbuster film Pretty Woman. 

It was a time when even Sutherland was a Hollywood A-lister for being Hollywood legend Donald Sutherland’s son, as well as for his roles in films such as Young Guns, Stand By Me, and The Lost Boys.

Roberts and Sutherland had a doomed relationship, which ended in a sudden breakup. It seems the Runaway Bride actress called off their wedding only a few days before it was supposed to take place, Mirror.co.uk reports. 

The duo acted together in Flatliners in 1990 and soon started dating each other. While Roberts was only 23-year-old at that time, Sutherland was all of 24 years. Sutherland considered his relationship with the Pretty Woman actress as a “rocky.”

The actor acknowledged that he had been struggling with his addiction then. As they were madly in love and very young at that time, he ignored the harsh realities of a relationship and life. 

Their relationship eventually became messy and Kiefer Sutherland moved out a few weeks before their wedding date. Eventually, Julia Roberts canceled the wedding amid rumors of Sutherland betraying her with a stripper. However, Sutherland has denied the accusation to date. 

Yet, the actor-producer has accepted accountability for their breakup. He even said that Roberts did not do anything wrong by sharing things with People magazine (via AOL) in 2016. 

When Sutherland moved out, the Pretty Woman actress started dating Jason Patric, a good friend of Sutherland. 

Rather than exchanging her vows with her boyfriend, she flew off with Patric to Ireland and made no secret of dating him. 

Sutherland might have been devastated then but has no grudges against Roberts. He thinks his ex-girlfriend was being “realistic” then. The actor also mentioned that they realized possibly being too young at that time to continue with an intense relationship. 

However, Roberts’ relationship with Jason Patric did not last for a long time. The actress walked down the aisle with Lyle Lovett two years later. Her marriage lasted for less than a year though. 

Roberts eventually got married to Danny Moder, a renowned cinematographer, and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary recently. However, some tabloids like to believe that the couple is on the verge of separating all the time. 

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts and Danny Moder appear to be happily married. Even Kiefer Sutherland has been in a solid relationship with Cindy Vela, an actress, for the last six years. The story of the actress calling off her wedding to Sutherland at the last moment is accurate, Gossip Cop reports.
