Asta is known to put his blood, sweat and tears in hopes of becoming the Wizard King. However, he doesn’t possess any magic powers. In Black Clover Episode 143, he seems to be dead. The episode is titled The Tilted Scale.

The official preview trailer for Black Clover Episode 143 is out and it teases bad news for the fans of Asta and the series.

“Asta, don’t die! Make one of your stupid faces and laugh! Asta! Next time on Black Clover Episode 143: The Tilted Scale. They took Nero and Marie… Just what are they after?!” reads the preview for the upcoming episode.
In the last episode, there is a flashback sequence when the Eye of the Midnight Sun attacked the royal capital.

Meanwhile, a woman named Dazu can borrow magic from others and use it.

Soon, a massive explosion engulfs the town. Looks like the town is attack by the Eye of the Midnight Sun. Dazu manages to come out unhurt from the attack. However, she lost her family members in the attack. The town is dealing with the aftermath of the attack. Dazu learns that the incident affected the entire kingdom. Rumors are floating around that those who attacked everyone were being controlled by the devil and had gained monumental powers.

Dazu is clueless about this development. In the meantime, the Magic Knights are ordered to get stronger in the next six months.

Toward the end of the episode, Devil Banishers took Nero and Marie. Meanwhile, Asta is laying on the ground lifeless. It remains to be seen if he will make a comeback in the upcoming episode. Black Clover received a new intro and opening theme to celebrate the current arc.

Black Clover Episode 143 is scheduled to telecast on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020. The episodes are currently streaming in Japanese with English subtitles.
