‘Gossip Girl’ has been one of the most talked about shows when it aired on TV. With the recent call for a new ‘Gossip Girl’ season, writers at HBO decided to make a reboot of the famous show.

The reboot was announced a year ago and supposedly production was to start as soon as possible, but due to the pandemic, the filming of the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot has been pushed to October.

The misfortune of the filming being pushed has not waivered the cast and crew and more hype has been rising due to the excitement of the people.

Warner Bros. confirmed to Variety this week that the production of the 10-episode series to start at the end of October and will include areas in New York, Vancouver and Los Angeles.

Last May, HBO Max chief content officer, Kevin Reilly revealed that the taping was pushed back due to COVID-19.

In a statement he released, he said, “They hadn’t even started production yet; they were in pre-production and ready to roll”.

Joshua Safran, the showrunner of ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot teased fans on what to expect on the new ‘Gossip Girl’. Safran said that the show will be extremely different from the old ‘Gossip Girl’ and it is to be super queer and diverse.

The setting of the new ‘Gossip Girl’ will be eight years after the Gossip Girl website went dark, it will explore how social media has changed since then as well as how much New York has progressed.

According to reports, Kristen Bell, the narrator from the old ‘Gossip Girl’ will come back to resume her role. There is no news about other cast members returning to the reboot. Ed Westwick, one of the actors in ‘Gossip Girl’ said that he was unlikely to return for the reboot.

The new ‘Gossip Girl’ will follow a group of friends who come from a privileged private school in New York’s East Side, whose lives are being documented by a secretive blogger, watching their every move.

The reboot has cast Emily Alyn Lind as the main character Audrey, with Kristen Bell returning to narrate as Gossip Girl. The cast also includes Eli Brown, Adam Chanler-Berat, Thomas Doherty, Jonathan Fernandez, Tavi Gevinson, Jason Gotay, Zion Moreno and Whitney Peak.

Rumors of the reboot being canceled due to budget problems have been debunked and the show is said to be released in late 2021, instead of this year as forecasted.
