Andrea Riseborough Production Halted Due To Dominican Drug Enforcement
Actress Andrea Riseborough has been filming for Geechee, which has been on hold due to an uncertain incident. One of the crew members of the production got injured by the Dominican Republic.
A spokesperson of Lantica Media, which is an innovative production company that helps with studio facilities and various services in order to film in the Dominican Republic opened up about the alleged incident.
The company was also responsible for Geechee's production spot and the spokesperson revealed that on Sept. 2 the Dominican Drug Control Forces' agent injured a crew member who was searching for a location.
Lantica issued a statement in which they disclosed that the incident happened due to an ongoing undercover operation by the Dominican Drug Control Forces agents in the area. However, the alleged incident took place due to "mistaken identity".
The statement further clarified that the incident took place when the curfew timing was imposed but the crew member hunting for the location had issued permission by the authorities. The statement admitted that the Dominican government had set a specific timing for common people to keep the coronavirus pandemic in control.
However, after the incident, the crew member was rushed to the hospital and treated immediately. The injuries were not major and as a result, the crew member was discharged within a couple of hours. The incident had stopped the shooting of the film. Lantica informed through the statement that AGC Studios under which the movie has been produced has halted the filming until further assessments.
"Lantica Media has requested a thorough investigation from the national authorities. The authorities have been cooperative and are working to ensure that a similar incident does not happen again in the future," the statement mentioned.
Lantica Media further explained that the safety of the crew is their high priority and they are looking forward to providing the best measures for the production. The company concluded by admitting that this is the first time such an incident took place in over 50 plus movie production work they have handled.
The outlet revealed that the crew member had minor injuries despite being shot many times. The agents' open fire near Lantica Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios on a couple of cars that consists of crew members. Moreover, there were other members of the crew who was allegedly kept at gunpoint until bystanders established that crew members were not guilty.
