Sex Scene Filming: Here's How Hollywood Is Carrying It Out In Pandemic
The entertainment industry is one of the worst-hit industries due to the pandemic. The blow is not only because of the coronavirus protocols, it’s so also because of the nature of its activities which oftentimes center around traveling, meeting people, getting intimate (for some shows and movies), and also mass public gathering as in the case of a live concert.
In short, almost all major parts that happen in the entertainment industry involve people, travel, and getting together – which is in complete contrast to pandemic guidelines.
This is the reason that Hollywood had to come up with a solution like no other - an innovation in the process that could ensure continuity of filming and production of engrossing content while also putting coronavirus measures in place.
As anyone would expect, the movie and show projects resumed production a couple of months back following social distancing to keeping chances of infections at the bay. However, what called for more attention was the filming of sex scenes.
Well, Hollywood has got it covered with the use of advanced technology, a bit of innovation, and a little common sense. One of the most common and effective solutions is Sex Dolls.
It may sound strange, but for projects that have a lot of sex scenes, “blow-up dolls” with a wig and makeup on are being used. The pandemic substitute for a body double is, in fact, turning out to be very safe.
Prop no. 2 is an obvious and tricky solution. When it’s about two humans kissing, the plastic sheets are in the use. A thin plastic sheet is adjusted between people who are going to kiss to tame any chances of infection during it. Once the filming is over, the plastic sheets can be edited out through advanced video editing tools.
The last one is probably the best solution that an actor can ask for. The scenes that require romantic touching and cuddling, the significant other of the actor can star for that. Simply put, the actors are performing those intimate sex scenes with their real-life partners.
In an interview with THR, Bold & the Beautiful" soap opera producer Bradley Bell said, "We've been preparing for this over the last month, month and a half. We knew the day would come, so we've been modifying our spaces, modifying our studio, our booth, staying up to date on what the most important health and safety protocols are.”
