The Dodger paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman. The 43-year-old actor died on Aug. 28 after battling with cancer for over four years. Boseman portrayed Jackie Robinson, who was a professional baseball player.

The actor worked in a film called 42 that released in 2013. It was highly appreciated by the Dodgers. As the professional baseball team honored Boseman, they released an official statement.

"From playing legendary figures to becoming one, we’ll never forget your iconic performance as Jackie Robinson and your many inspiring roles. You will be missed, Chadwick Boseman, the Los Angeles Dodgers wrote on Twitter.

Boseman's demise news was first announced during the game of Los Angeles Dodgers by Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser. Both the players were donning their sportswear shirts that had "42" written. The iconic professional played from 1947 to 1956 with Brooklyn Dodgers before they relocated to Los Angeles in 1958.

The Jackie Robinson Day is usually celebrated on April 15. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the celebration was postponed. Brian Helgeland, who directed the film 42, said that Robinson was the first African American who played in 1947 with a major baseball league.

As the player was signed by the Dodgers in Brooklyn, he received racism throughout the process of his selection. In the movie, André Holland, Christopher Meloni, Nicole Beharie, and Harrison Ford were co-stars of Boseman as he portrayed the legendary character.

While the death was announced on Aug. 28 through social media, the cancer details were posted along with the tragic news. The statement was posted on Boseman's official social media handle that noted it is immeasurable grief confirming the news of Boseman passing away.

The statement further revealed that the actor was suffering from colon cancer stage III, which was diagnosed back in 2016. However, the actor battled with cancer for four years, and eventually, cancer reached its fourth stage.

The long post disclosed that Boseman was a fighter as he persevered everything and presented his fans with great movies. The post had some honorable mentions of movies such as Marshall, Da 5 Bloods, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The statement enlightened fans that all these movies were made while he was going through several chemotherapy and surgeries. It was an honor that his work brought King T’Challa back to life in the Marvel. The actor was with his family in his home when he took his last breath. Besides Dodgers, many co-stars took social media to praise and mourn the actor's death.
