Avid followers of the famous American crime thriller television series have been clamoring about what could transpire in The Blacklist Season 8. Since there have been no concrete details about it up to this writing, some viewers were forced to create their own theories and predictions on the future of Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader).

Reports have it that the imminent The Blacklist Season 8 would pick up where the last installment left off. In an interview with Parade in Oct. 2019, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp teased that the events in the seventh season would have a significant impact on the next installment.

Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly that the relationship of Red and Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Meghan Boone) would remain the same. However, at the moment, Liz is a step ahead of Red and is not planning to confront the latter soon since she is knowledgeable that she would not get answers yet.

“Red feels like he's answered the Katarina question, and he has nothing more to say about it. In his mind, all this business with Katarina Rostova is in the rearview mirror. Liz on the other hand — well, we'll have to wait and see how she responds. But for now, she's playing her cards close to the vest,” Bokenkamp stated.

Aside from James Spader and Meghan Boone, other casts expected to return in The Blacklist Season 8 include Harry Lenniz as Harold Cooper, Hishaam Tawifq as Dembe Zuma, and Diego Klattenhoff as Donald Ressler. However, it remains unclear if Laila Robins, who played as Katarina Rostova in the seventh installment, would return.

Furthermore, it is very likely that Dom would not appear in The Blacklist Season 8. Most, if not all, fans are aware that Brian Dennehy, who played the character, died due to the COVID-19. Liz, for her part, would be switching her allegiances from Red in the forthcoming new installment.

NBC has yet to announce the official release date of The Blacklist Season 8. However, with the current global health crisis, devoted followers of the show could expect some delays. What is sure, for now, is that the production would resume whenever it is safe for the entire cast and crew to get back to work.
