Nancy Pelosi said that former vice president Joe Biden should refrain from participating in his three scheduled debates with Donald Trump, who the House Speaker suggests would dispraise the forum and engage in skullduggery. She denied the need for debates.

"I don't think that there should be any debates," Pelosi argued during a news conference at the Capitol, noting that she is afraid the debates would end being just "an exercise in skullduggery," Pelosi said that she doesn't plan to legitimize a conversation or a debate in terms of the United States presidency.

During the news conference, Pelosi said that she now knows that the Biden campaign has a different way of looking at this. In an interview with MSNBC earlier this week, Biden said he is still willing to participate in the high-profile faceoffs with Trump.

Biden noted that he would debate the president as long as the debate commission is conducted properly and with moral integrity, adding that he would call him out for his lies in real-time. Biden said he would act like a fact-checker as he debates Trump, on GOP War Room.

Aside from Pelosi, a slew of high-profile Democrats have offered a major piece of advice to Biden. Former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton advised the former veep to not concede the race regardless of the circumstances. Republicans, on the other hand, touted Pelosi's advice as another sign that Democrats want to hide Biden.

Communications director for the Republican National Committee Michael Ahrens accused Democratic leaders of advising Biden to not debate, stay in the basement, and not to concede. Ahrens tweeted that it was an odd way of exhibiting confidence in their nominee.

Tim Murtaugh, communications director of the Trump campaign raised questions about whether Democrats were paving the way for a video conference debate so that Biden's handlers could help assist him. In his statement, Murtaugh raised concerns about Biden's handlers trying to keep him in his basement in a bid to avoid debates or insist on holding them via Skype so that they can help Biden using a teleprompter or notes.

Debates have been an issue of dispute for quite some time now, as the Trump campaign pushes for an early debate to coincide with early voting in states. The possibility of completely abandoning debates made headlines after a New York Times op-ed argued that presidential debates should be discarded, with critics suggesting that it is media's latest effort to prevent Biden and Trump's debate.
