Harry And Meghan Markle Break The Bank: Couple's Financial Status Threatened, No One Wants Them As Speakers
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sudden decision to leave the Royal family and quit their royal duties have been a shock to the world. The real reason as to why the couple left has yet to be revealed, but multiple sources have cited many different reasons as to why the couple decided to forego their status. One of them is the fact that Meghan felt restricted and not entirely welcomed into the royal family.
The couple also announced that they were seeking ‘financial independence’ from the royal family. As of now, Prince Harry and Meghan are still getting financial aid from the institution.
In the hopes of them getting rid entirely of the money supply from their family, the couple has been adamant about working as key speakers on many organizations, charities, and movements.
Although the news came out that most of the speaking jobs the couple has done are unpaid, it doesn’t go to show the amount of connection and gifts they have received from their friends.
Recently, the couple has moved house from Los Angeles to a $14.7 million house in Montecito, Santa Barbara, California. As to how the couple affords their new estate is a big question. Rumors are circulating that Prince Charles, father of Prince Harry financed the couple’s new home, making them financially dependent still.
According to ‘Finding Freedom’ author, Omid Scobie, the couple actually paid with their own money. The couple was said to have taken out a mortgage and is making their new home, their last.
But with the pandemic, the royal fans are concerned that the wished of the Sussex’ to be financially free from the royal family may not come true soon enough.
There have been few speaking engagements available to the couple and currently, Meghan Markle has been the one doing most of the speaking jobs.
With the national elections looming close, Meghan has been actively doing her part in spreading awareness about women voters. She was recently thanked by ‘When All Women Vote’ initiative for influencing 300,000 women to register to vote.
She also did an interview together with famous feminist and author, Gloria Steinem, wherein the women discussed representation and women voters.
Meghan’s recent speaking jobs did gather quite a lot of criticism for the Duchess. Despite her no longer being involved with the royal family, she was expected to keep a neutral stance in political subjects.
Prince Harry revealed that he is not supporting Meghan on her political journey with respect to his family.
