Rumors and speculations about the upcoming NCIS Season 18 continue to make rounds online, especially since CBS has not released any concrete details about its return and storyline. Numerous followers of the popular American action police procedural television series were pleased when news about its renewal first broke. But, what can fans expect in the imminent installment?

CarterMatt reported that views would witness the return of Mark Harmon and the rest of the gang in early November. The entertainment news outlet, however, shared that it is unlikely for the series to make a comeback on November 3 as it is Election Day.

Should NCIS Season 18 premiere on November 10, devoted supporters of the show can expect a total of three episodes for the said month, especially if the production would not take a break for Thanksgiving Day. Possibly, the series may release two episodes in December before the cast and crew take their Christmas vacation.

The publication, in a separate report, predicted that NCIS Season 18 might release a total of six episodes before 2020 ends. It furthered that fans may not expect a holiday episode since producers have to make sure when specific stories could air based on potential delays.

Meanwhile, Frank Cardea told TV Line, as per Daily Express, that the series’ 400th episode would be the second episode of NCIS Season 18. He even divulged that the said episode is going to be interesting as its storyline, which is written by co-showrunner Steven D. Binder, will be about how Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) have met.

Cardea, also, revealed that Season 17, supposedly, was not going to end with a cliffhanger. However, he hinted that they would be pursuing their planned finale in some respects – another thing fans could look forward to in NCIS Season 18.

“The envisioned season finale did not have a cliffhanger ending but was planned to have a very surprising ending. More of a reveal/development, as you phrased it.,” Cardea stated. “We do plan to go forward with that episode in the early part of Season 18, but will probably reevaluate the ending when the time comes,” he went on.

Some viewers remain interested in some storylines of the show, which include the potential romance of Special Agent Gibbs and Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane (Maria Bello) and if Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop (Emily Kaiser Wickersham) will follow the footsteps of Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
