Meghan Markle Treated Unfairly During Her Early Royal Days: Was Given No Etiquette Lessons Unlike Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle marrying into the Royal family brought a lot of changes into her life. As her relationship with Prince Harry blossomed, Meghan was formally introduced to the Prince’s family, but their whirlwind romance has also made Meghan’s life as royalty difficult.
In a new biography about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle called ‘Finding Freedom’, the authors wrote that Meghan Markle was never given proper etiquette lessons.
The claim comes as authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand spoke to sources close to the couple that Meghan had a hard time coping with the stress of being a proper royal.
Normally, royals or those who will become royalty, are taught etiquette lessons. From stepping out of a sedan in a tight pencil skirt to wearing the proper attire for an engagement and when and how to curtsy to royal family members.
In the book, the authors wrote that Meghan expected to undergo the same training as sister-in-law Kate Middleton did but to her dismay she was never given proper etiquette lessons. The book did claim that Meghan was connected to a team of experts.
On a podcast by Ann Gripper called ‘Pod Save The Queen’, she remarked on this story in the book.
In one of Ms. Gripper’s podcast episodes, she had Rupert Wessen on, who is an etiquette expert and they discussed Meghan’s lessons or lack thereof.
“When they were talking about how she was given access to experts and taught how to sit down properly in a pencil skirt and that kind of thing, but was never offered etiquette lessons… It is just like, all these things that you are being told… that is etiquette lessons!” Gripper commented on Meghan not getting the same treatment as Kate Middleton on etiquette lessons.
Gripper continued that Meghan had access to all these experts but she took no initiative to get help from them.
It is believed that the Royals are taught etiquette lessons but this may not be the case at all. In an interview, Princess Anne, the only daughter of the Queen, when asked how she handles the stress and the pressure of numerous engagements, she said that most of the time, she had to learn the hard way.
As the Royals, the men and women have to follow certain rules but a lot has changed for the newer generation of Royals. Etiquette, although very important in the public eye is not at all a big deal for the Royals.
