Stephen Colbert Criticizes 'Cult' of Republican Right After Convention Event
Stephen Colbert has always been vocal about his opinions regarding political issues. Recently, The Late Show host spoke about the dark predictions given by the U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz and Kimberly Guilfoyle's performance.
The 56-year-old host garnered a good amount of material to provide a hysterical monologue based on the Republican National Convention held on Aug. 24. The Late Show's opening monologue was focused completely on the event as he instantly shared some memes that include Donald Trump Jr., attorney Kimberly Guilfoyle's appearance, and Gaetz.
Colbert mentioned the Republicans in a similar way to Democrats and jokingly spoke about the theme of all four nights. He renamed the themes as death, war, pestilence, and famine while the real name of the themes was Land of Greatness, Land of Heroes, Land of Opportunity, and Land of Promise.
However, the Republican Party is running in the presidential race to win the 2020 elections but without any platform. The host took a dig at the platform and said that it completely makes sense to him as President Donald Trump usually face difficulty stepping down from the platforms.
Rather than having a platform, the GOP decided to run their campaign on the platform presented in 2016. "The Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda," said as they released the party's resolution. As the party skipped the platform, Colbert called the party a "cult".
Many people over Twitter locked Florida politician's words where he spoke about Democrats and what they will do after coming in the power. He claimed that they will disarm the people, make home prisons by locking up citizens in their own houses, real prisons will be empty, and have to live beside Mara Salvatrucha.
Colbert took this dark speech and added his own flavor. The host said that Democrats will ensure that they offer the only can of beer left to the people. Football player Herschel Walker remembered Trump suddenly decided to accompany his family when they were on the way to Disney World.
It is worth noting that Trump's kids were already invited to the family trip. Colbert took a dig at the 58-year-old former play and sarcastically said that Trump is an absolutely loving and caring dad. While Colbert admitted that Trump acts like a dotting father and would love to do something for his kids, he has set the bar really low for himself.
