Camilla Parker Bowles, reportedly, welcomed Meghan Markle into the royal family very early on.

In fact, even before Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot, Camilla already took the Suits alum under her wing.

According to Mail on Sunday, Prince Charles’ wife even invited Markle to private lunches in the days leading up to her royal wedding.

During their hangouts, Camilla gave Markle advice on how to cope with her new life as a royal. The Duchess of Cornwall also tried to educate Markle on how difficult being a royal is because it’s different from the life that she’s used to.

“Camilla had experienced a lot of negative press and hostility from courtiers due to her relationship with Charles when he was still married to Diana. She was very sensitive to Meghan and provided her with support, advising her to ride out the storm and that it would all pass – but ultimately Meghan didn't listen,” a source said.

Shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot, Markle appeared in a documentary where she admitted that she and her husband had been struggling.

The source told royal author Katie Nicholl that Camilla was shocked to hear these words come out of Markle’s mouth.

“I think Camilla was probably just as surprised as anyone else when the documentary came out and perhaps didn’t realize how much Harry and Meghan were suffering. She wants everyone to get along and be happy. Her mantra is carry on and keep smiling. She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan, and she could be a very good ally too,” the source said.

The insider claimed that Markle also felt let down by Kate Middleton. However, sources close to the Duchess of Cambridge said that she urged Markle to call her for anything. However, it was reported Prince Harry’s wife that didn’t call Middleton.

In Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that the sisters-in-law never fought with each other. However, their relationship never went beyond the superficial level because they don’t have much in common.

Following Prince Harry and Markle’s Megxit, rumors swirled that Middleton and Prince William were furious over their decision. However, the authors of Finding Freedom said that this wasn’t the case.
