Princess Anne Allegedly Showed Kate Middleton, Prince William Support But Not Prince Harry, Meghan Markle
Princess Anne recently talked about the downside of the Internet and how it has subjected the younger generation of royals to more public scrutiny.
However, New Idea claimed that Princess Anne’s statement was her way of showing her support for Prince William and Kate Middleton but not for the Sussexes.
In a new documentary, she said that the younger members of the royal family are subjected to far greater levels of public pressure than she ever faced due to the rise of the Internet. During her time, there were no social media.
“There was no social media in my day, so it probably has made it more difficult. The pressure that is applied to the younger members of the family is always worse because that’s why the media is interested in – and that’s sometimes hard to deal with,” she said.
Princess Anne didn’t mention Prince William and Middleton in her statement. But the tabloid singlehandedly claimed that the comment was her way of supporting them and not the Sussexes. After all, the Sussexes are no longer considered as working royals.
As for Prince William and Middleton, they continue to perform their royal duties and serve the queen.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also made headlines this week after it was revealed that Prince William was plagued with unhappy thoughts following one major decision that he had to make.
During his interview with Royal Beat, the decision to move to Kensington Palace with Middleton may have been a difficult one for the future king.
“Charles and Diana went out of their way to make sure the home life for William and Harry was a happy one. Diana often brought treats for the boys when they were older, but when they were younger, I remember they had lots of school parties. They went to schools locally on Notting Hill just on the other side of the park. They were always inviting their friends back to parties at the Palace,” royal commentator Richard Kay said.
“Diana took them to local shops and restaurants, lots of good things went on. They were a fixture, they were a part of Kensington's life if you like. I think that drew William back here in 2011 after he married Kate. Even though there must have been all those skeletons rattling around and he must have had some thoughts about how unhappy his mother had ultimately been at times there,” he added.
