The streaming service industry is very promising; that's why it is not surprising why a lot of big names in the industry would like to have their own market share. Apple TV+ is on a hiring spree to offer better content and technology while attracting more subscribers. Disney+ is also creating a name in the streaming service industry and has so far achieved an impressive milestone.

Disney+ Subscribers

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently shared some details about the company's latest streaming service, the Disney+. At the company's recent earnings call, the CEO said that its streaming service had exceeded their expectations. Disney+ surpassed the subscribers' count of HBO Now and is overtaking Netflix.

The CEO revealed that as of January 2020, Disney+ has 28.6 million subscribers. Disney's streaming service was launched on Nov. 12, 2019. The day after, the company announced that the service had reached 10 million subscribers. Initially, Disney said that its streaming service has 26.5 million subscribers, but the CEO revealed the actual number on Monday's earnings call.

The company also revealed that it is planning to roll out the streaming service to other countries outside the US. Disney+ would soon be available in the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Switzerland beginning Mar.24, 2020.

Aside from Disney+, the company has other streaming services available in the market today. It includes Hulu and ESPN+. Both streaming services have seen an increase in subscribers count. ESPN+ has 6.6 million from last year's 1.4 million subscribers. Hulu, on the other hand, has a total subscriber count of 30.4 million from last year's 22.8 million.

Disney+ vs Apple TV+

On its recent earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook did go into further details about the Apple TV+. However, he said that the company's streaming service was a 'rousing success.' Analyst Toni Sacconaghi of Bernstein Research says that Apple TV+ has a low adoption rate possibly because of the limited number of content or Apple's failure to promote its contents.

Unlike Apple, Disney has an established catalog of contents, according to Macrumors, which could be its edge over other streaming services. But, based on the recent figures reported by Ampere Analysis and shared by The Wall Street Journal, Apple TV+ might have as many as 33.6 million subscribers.

With Apple's recent hiring, getting all key personalities in the industry to improve the offerings and service of Apple TV+, there is a chance that it could catch up with the subscribers' count of Disney+, granting that the figures analysts predicted were not accurate.
