Patton Oswalt recalled his late wife following the Golden State Killer's sentence. Joseph James DeAngelo who was responsible for more than 13 murders and over 50 rapes who got a life imprisonment sentence on Aug. 21. American stand-up comedian Patton Oswalt remembered his wife Michelle McNamara, who died in 2016.

McNamara had researched the serial killer and started to write a book that highlights crime that frightens California in the 1970s. "The insect gets none of my headspace today. I’m thinking of the victims, and the survivors, and the witnesses and crusaders and investigators. And of course Michelle. Go forward in peace, all of you," the comedian took Twitter to share the victory with fans.

Along with the tweet, Oswalt also shared pictures of his wife. McNamara passed away at the age of 46, unexpectedly. She worked on the case for over 10 years to ensure that the criminal gets punished. Her entire procedure and hard work to identify DeAngelo has been recorded in a book.

McNamara wrote the book with the help of Billy Jensen who worked as an investigative journalist, Paul Haynes who is a crime writer, and her husband Oswalt. The book was titled I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer.

Once the book was public in 2018, it became a bestseller as it debuted in The New York Times' list. Sacramento Sheriff’s Office took DeAngelo in custody and later identified him based on DNA evidence as Golden State Killer.

Oswalt appeared on the Late Night With Seth Meyers in 2018 where he disclosed that he is sleepless and on adrenaline because of the astonishing progress in the case. The Golden State Killer started to motion almost after 40 years, which was surprising.

The 51-year-old comedian revealed during the show that his wife's book helped people gaining interest in the case again along with the officially. Oswalt said that her wife never cares about who gets the credit as her motive was to put that criminal behind the bars.

The comedian said that he felt amazing when the criminal was arrested as his wife was longing it. McNamara was appreciated by I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, HBO docuseries that released last year in June.

The television series showcased the investigation from the beginning to the end. In fact, it also displays a glimpse of McNamara’s life that includes interviews with family members, survivors, detectives, and more.
